Christmastime in New York City

NYC

We ventured into the Big Apple last weekend for some of the most iconic holiday decorations and festivities!

If you’re planning a trip into NYC during the holiday season, I have two main pieces of advice for you…

1. Dress warmly.

It wasn’t super cold (although one of my friends who runs extremely warm blooded might disagree), but the city tends be windier than other places. All of the buildings create a wind tunnel that makes the frigid temperatures much worse.

If you’re visiting from a warmer climate, definitely bundle up. I survived in thin tights and a faux fur coat, but my friends all wore actual pants. My legs felt numb a few times, but it wasn’t too bad honestly!

2. Prepare for crowds.

I’ve been through London during the holiday season (on multiple visits), and these crowds are 100x worse. Times Square and Rockefeller Center are so saturated you can barely move or walk at times. Try to go at times that will be less crowded. And make sure you stick together if you’re with friends or family.

With large crowds also comes long wait times at restaurants. Just prepare accordingly and don’t let it ruin your fun!

Although Rockefeller was beautiful and all the Santas running around for SantaCon were cool, my favorite stop was Central Park. I’m pretty vocal about how much I loathe NYC during the summertime. Everything smells worse than usual and it’s grossly hot. We’d visited the park earlier this year in July, and it was nice, but also uncomfortably hot.

The spot we visited this time was much better, and it wasn’t even that crowded. The view was something straight out of Gossip Girl.

Outfit Details:

Faux Fur Coat: Forever21

Tights: Target

Black Pinafore: Primark

Shirt: Primark

None of my fellow Americans seem to know what a pinafore is… so let me rephrase, it’s an overall dress. My only semi-regret about the outfit is climbing on top of that rock was extremely difficult. Someone physically pulled me up, and I flashed two of my friends trying to shimmy my way down. Totally worth it though.
